The survey, in which a total of 227 universities took part, records the status of the start-up culture at German universities in several dimensions: In addition to start-up awareness, qualification and support as well as institutional anchoring, start-up activities, networking, monitoring and evaluation activities are also considered. HNU scored above average, particularly in the areas of start-up awareness and anchoring, and secured 10th place out of 64 in the “small universities” category.
Impetus for a future-oriented, dynamic and practical start-up culture
“Our consistent focus on entrepreneurship, close links with the regional economy and our strong network of founders, investors and funding institutions have consolidated our role in the regional start-up ecosystem,” says HNU President Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser. “We are delighted that our ranking in the start-up radar reflects these strengths.”
Prof. Dr. Jens Kolb, Vice President for Transfer and Continuing Education, emphasizes that the university intends to continue on this course in the future: “We will continue to provide the right impetus for a future-oriented, dynamic and practical start-up culture in order to further expand our start-up support”.
Start-ups at HNU: diverse activities and a creative infrastructure
The Entrepreneurship & Start-up department at HNU offers students, employees and external interested parties comprehensive support for their start-up projects. This includes events, individual advice and specialized courses. Since 2021, the HNU Founders Space has served as a central point of contact for all those interested in founding a company. The facility not only offers innovative spaces to develop ideas and projects, but also access to the community, coaching, mentoring and prototyping support. In addition, HNU promotes the regional start-up ecosystem through its membership of StartupSÜD and Schwaben Innovations Nexus (KANU). This enables the early development of innovative ideas into companies through mutual support and networking, including matchmaking and funding opportunities.
