Following the successful launch of Business Criminology in the winter semester of 2025–2026 and Evidence-Based Nursing in the summer semester of 2026, HNU is taking things a step further. “Studying at HNU is characterized by international experiences, self-directed learning, and close integration with professional practice. With four new degree programmes, we are consistently further developing our educational model: Students not only acquire specialized knowledge but, above all, learn to ask the right questions, develop self-efficacy, and take responsibility for their own path. Individualized study paths, innovative teaching approaches, and diverse application opportunities make Neu Ulm University a powerful engine of innovation and skilled labor for the region,” emphasizes HNU President Prof. Dr. Julia Kormann.
Applied Cyber Security (B.Sc.)
Cyberattacks are among the greatest challenges of our time. The new Bachelor’s programme in Applied Cyber Security (B.Sc.) trains professionals who can understand, protect, and, in the event of an incident, forensically analyze digital systems. Through labs, projects, and real-world case studies, students learn about ethical hacking, cryptography, and security management, among other topics. A key feature is the shift in perspective: Students first work from the attacker’s perspective, analyzing vulnerabilities and simulating targeted cyberattacks. They then switch to the role of the companies, developing protective measures and defending IT systems. Cyber Security is one of the fastest-growing professional fields worldwide—and the career paths for graduates are correspondingly diverse.
Smart Mobility Management (B.Sc.)
By further developing its Information Management Automotive (B.Sc.) degree programme, HNU is responding to the far-reaching changes and trends in the automotive and mobility sectors: The programme, which will continue under the new name Smart Mobility Management (B.Sc.) from the 2026/27 winter semester onwards due to the expansion of its content, focuses on connected vehicles, data-driven services and sustainable mobility concepts. How are cities becoming smarter? And how will the energy and charging infrastructure of the future work? Students learn how data spaces are utilised, how the automotive industry is evolving, and how innovative solutions for cities, businesses and industry are emerging. Projects in the real-world laboratory, as well as close collaboration with industry partners, bring the course to life and enable the direct transfer of theory into practice. The programme opens up a wide range of career opportunities in a dynamic, future-oriented market.
Artificial Intelligence & Health Informatics (M.Sc.)
Brand new: With its English-language Artificial Intelligence & Health Informatics (M.Sc.) programme, HNU is aimed at anyone who wants to apply artificial intelligence (AI) and health informatics (HI) specifically in the healthcare sector. This part-time programme prepares students for careers in high-tech and pharmaceutical companies, startups, or research. The focus is on AI, HI, and data-driven innovations that enable the digital transformation of the healthcare sector.
Digital Leadership in Information Management (M.Sc.)
The Master’s programme in Digital Leadership in Information Management (M.Sc.), also taught in English, is structured around an 18-month research challenge and combines three interrelated areas of expertise: analytical depth in addressing real-world IT challenges, a strategic foundation for modern IT management, and the development of personal leadership skills. The research challenge addresses a practical problem at the frontier of existing knowledge. The goal is not to apply known solutions, but to generate new knowledge. Graduates will be equipped not only to support digital transformation processes, but also to understand them deeply based on their own analysis and to shape them in a targeted manner.
