Regarding the demographic change, the healthcare sector is one of the key growth industries. At the same time, there is a growing need for qualified managers who possess expertise in business administration as well as in legal and care-related matters. Since 2011, the degree programme has been specifically preparing students for management and administrative roles in healthcare institutions.
With the newly confirmed option for an additional qualification, students will no longer need to undertake the external ‘care home manager training course’. The prerequisite is the successful completion of the specialisation subjects
- Gerontology and Care for the Elderly,
- Labour Law and
- Quality and Risk Management,
supplemented by a practical placement of at least 40 hours in a facility in accordance with Section 2 of the Care and Residential Quality Act (PfeWoqG) – for example, as part of the practical semester.
“The additional qualification is a unique opportunity for all students wishing to specialise to take a shortcut up the career ladder,” explains programme director Prof. Dr Alexander Würfel.
