Review: International Week Online

05.11.2021, International :

The International Week from 25 to 29 October 2021 attracted a lot of attention with its 21 digital info sessions on studying abroad.

As in the previous year, the International Week took place purely virtually in order to show students as uncomplicatedly as possible the numerous possibilities of how they can incorporate a longer stay abroad into their course of study at HNU and also to emphasise the great benefits for their personal and professional future. The 30-minute info sessions again took place both at lunchtime and in the evening. Speakers included colleagues from the IO and the Department of Studies, two professors, several students with experience abroad as well as exchange students from two of our partner universities.

The students were able to find out about the various options for going abroad once or several times during their studies, be it to participate in a double degree programme, to do a semester abroad or an internship abroad, to write their final thesis abroad or even about shorter stays abroad. What needs to be taken into account when transferring study credits from abroad was explained in detail in the info session on the recognition of examination credits from abroad. The one-hour workshop "English Applications in a Nutshell" explained how to prepare an application in English. The financing of a stay abroad was the topic of the events "Erasmus+ scholarships", "Financing outside the EU" and "HAW.International", which were presented by a former DAAD scholarship holder.

On the International Week Online website, the schedule of events as well as the contents of the respective info sessions can be found at a glance. Interest was aroused via Instagram, reminders were sent out promptly and feedback was obtained. The daily posts were noticed by a large number of students, a majority of whom continue to support the virtual format and find the offer helpful and informative.
