Visit to Panama and Costa Rica: HNU Pres­id­ent Feser on del­eg­a­tion trip

To intensify networking, representatives of the universities of the Free State of Bavaria and the Bavarian University Center for Latin America (BAYLAT) undertook a delegation trip to Panama and Costa Rica from October 16 to 23. HNU President Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser represented both Neu-Ulm University and BAYLAT, which she heads as director, on this trip.

The trip, organized by BAYLAT and the Bavarian State Ministry of Arts and Sciences, first led to Panama. There, the 11-member delegation visited various scientific institutions in Panama City: The program included the Instituto Técnico Superior Especializado (ITSE), the Secretaría Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación (SENACYT), the Instituto de Investigaciones Científicas y Servicios de Alta Tecnología de Panamá (INDICASAT), the Ciudad del Saber business and industrial park, and the Universidad de Panamá (UP) and Universidad Tecnológica de Panama (UTP). A memorandum of understanding was also signed at UTP between BayLat and the Conference of University Rectors of Panama (CRP - Consejo de Rectores de Panamá).

Deepening and expanding Bavarian-Latin American cooperation

In Costa Rica, the delegation met with the Consejo Nacional de Rectores (CONARE) for a working meeting with the rectors and the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs. In addition, the representatives of the Bavarian universities visited the Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR), the Universidad Estatal a Distancia (UNED) and the Tecnológico de Costa Rica (TEC) and met the German Ambassador to Costa Rica at his residence. The Universidad Nacional (UNA), the Universidad Técnica Nacional (UTN) and the Centro Nacional de Alta Tecnología (CENAT) were also on the agenda, along with a working meeting with rectors, vice-rectors and the Comisión de Direcciones de Internacionalización Externa (COMDICE).
