Competition Future City Ulm 2030 - Phase 2

As part of a research project, the Institute for Service Management at the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) is developing a technical solution (app) to make life easier for older people. The app is to be used in various areas of daily life. For example, we are developing a functionality in the form of a digital health diary. This is intended to make the process of anamnesis, which can be particularly tedious for older people, more time-saving and effective, but also more accurate and meaningful overall. In addition, further possibilities are provided to counteract a decrease in cognitive performance or to enable social interaction over long distances. The functional scope of the app is to be successively expanded as long as older people find the functions offered useful finden.  The app is operated by the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences and is free of charge and advertising. As a public corporation, we are subject to the highest standards of compliance with all data protection regulations.

Within this framework, the Institute is looking for reliable and energetic student assistants (f/m/d) to test and validate the app for seniors developed at the Institute in the field. Optionally, a Bachelor's thesis within this framework is also possible.

It is also possible to write a Master's thesis in the MAM, BIA and IEIM programmes, in which a wide range of topics are to be researched.

MAM - The "senior citizens" customer segment is becoming increasingly attractive for companies, as it still has an enormous potential for new customers, especially in the IT sector. By disclosing the motivation of senior citizens' IT use, new offers can be developed to tap into this target group.

BIA - "Melli" is a future-oriented project, which should also make direct voice communication with the application possible. Voice analyses should help to detect Alzheimer's disease at an early stage. Therefore a conception of a voice analysis for the application is necessary.

IEIM - By the use of IEIM alone a multitude of information is generated, which in turn can be used to improve the application. In any case, it is invaluable to find out under which circumstances senior citizens use IT products and what wealth of information is generated by their use.
