The topic of digitization and technology in nursing care has been discussed with increasing intensity in Bavaria for several years. The goal is to establish a leading region for innovative nursing care in Bavaria. This can only succeed with the involvement of all actors relevant to nursing, i.e. applied science, the caregivers, the people who need care or assistance, the service providers, the industry, cost bearers, politics, and the various interest groups. The three Swabian universities of applied sciences Augsburg, Kempten, and Neu-Ulm, the University of Augsburg, and Augsburg University Hospital have joined forces to form an alliance that aims to implement the CARE REGIO project. The core topics are the digital nursing transition report, a research database for nursing, and the development of a free knowledge platform for nursing.
mHealth eval
Evaluation methods for mobile health applications

The goal of this project is to provide a critical overview of evaluation methods for mHealth applications and make recommendations for further developments.
NAP
In the project NAP (Neuronal Network Assisted Pathology) pathological images of glioblastoma (malignant brain tumor) are investigated. Together with the Institute of Neuropathology (TUM), which was headed by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Schlegel, relevant tumor areas have already been marked. The data now serve as the basis for training a neural network to automatically localize and analyze tumor areas.

stand-by.care

The stand-by.care project is developing an innovative emergency alert system designed to help seniors living alone stay safe in their familiar surroundings for as long as possible. This system uses specialised plug adapters to monitor the daily use of household appliances (such as coffee machines or televisions), interpreting their operation as a “sign of life.”
If these signs of life are not detected within a specified timeframe, family members or caregivers automatically receive a notification, enabling them to respond quickly—such as by making a check-up call.
