Exercise, counselling and healthy eating: HNU Health Week

18.06.2025, University News:

21 programmes and more than 180 participants: Under the motto "Campusfit - Join in!", the Health Days at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) from 2 to 6 June offered a mix of exercise and advice, lectures and information stands. Many HNU employees actively participated with their own course programmes. The Lions Club Neu-Ulm Campus also organised a DKMS typing campaign.

Participation programmes

There was a choice of activities such as meditation, back fitness, disc golf and forest bathing. Some employees and students took the opportunity to spend an active or consciously relaxed lunch break. The "Lifesaver 112" course was also very well attended.

Lectures and online coaching

Topics such as mental health, meal prep and nutritional supplements were covered in the presentations, some of which were also given by health insurance companies such as BKK or TK. Online coaching was also offered on the topic of "Emotional Eating" and one entitled "Climate Resilience Guide".

Information stands on health topics

The HNU library, Campus Lions and health insurance companies had stands in the HNU foyer. Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) offered a bike fitting session where staff and students could have their bikes checked for technology and equipment and customised to their individual body measurements. AOK offered a body analysis followed by a consultation. The HNU library presented its furniture that promotes movement, such as desk cycles and stools with an ergonomic rocking function. In addition, the general HNU stand offered free nuts from Seeberger and fruit from Fruchthof Nagel to all visitors. 30 people also registered for the DKMS typing campaign organised by the Campus Lions.

Summary of the organisation team

Tanja Wanner from the HNU HR team and Christoph Giebeler, Head of the Healthy University project, are very satisfied with how the Health Week went and with the feedback. Tanja Wanner said: “We were very pleased with the positive feedback and encouraged us to maintain this mix of programmes for the future. We also take constructive feedback to heart and would like to implement it next time. The willingness of our colleagues to actively participate in the programmes, for example the back fitness and meditation courses, was also great.”
