Founded in 850 Ulm has a rich history. The historic downtown offers various medieval buildings such as the Rathaus (townhall) or the Schwörhaus and the highest church steeple in the world, the Ulm Minster.
Ulm is surrounded by a picturesque landscape of forests and hills and is directly at the vicinity the Swabian Alb. Nearby is the scenic Blautopf, Germany's second biggest spring. Lake Constance and the Alps are South of Ulm with a driving distance of about an hour.
With an average temperature of 3 degrees centigrade in November, proper winter clothing is recommended.
