The bachelor program "Systems Engineering" is a cooperative program of the universities of Augsburg, Kempten and Neu-Ulm. It is a modern engineering degree program that combines the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and computer science in an interdisciplinary manner. Networking, digitalization, individualization and internationalization are important keywords associated with Industry 4.0 and characterize the degree program.
The study program provides students with the necessary competencies to be able to independently control subject-specific processes in a complex and frequently changing, international working world. Regional, technically producing companies are given the opportunity to secure and qualify skilled workers on site through the course of study.
Systems Engineering combines the advantages of e-learning and local studies: Teaching is done through so-called blended learning, a combination of classroom lectures and e-learning. The classroom courses take place at the Donau-Ries University Center (at the Technologie Centrum Westbayern TCW, Emil-Eigner-Straße 1, 86720 Nördlingen) or at the Memmingen University Center (Am Galgenberg 1, 87700 Memmingen). Depending on the proximity to your home, the attendance days can be attended at one or the other location. Regardless of where the lecturers teach, the students are always connected via live streaming. An extensive range of e-learning options enables structured and supervised preparation and follow-up of the attendance phases and in-depth study of content.
One study program - three different study variants
The program has been available since the 2016/2017 winter semester and was previously only offered as a part-time program. Starting in the winter semester of 2022/2023, two new study variants will be added to the offering in order to provide students and partner companies with even more flexibility. In addition to the proven part-time model, Systems Engineering can also be studied in seven semesters or in the "intensive" variant.
In the classic part-time model, specialists from regional partner companies study two days a week, either alongside their jobs or on a dual basis. The duration of study is nine to eleven semesters. The regular study variant enables compact study with a practical semester. Those who want to make even faster progress choose the intensive study program, which is based on the support of a scholarship. The duration of study here is five to six semesters. It is possible to switch flexibly between the models at the beginning of each semester.
At the information event, Prof. Dr. Thomas Kirchmeier from Augsburg University of Applied Sciences will present the course and the three different study models. In addition, a student will report on his everyday study and work life and answer questions.
