HNU goes India

11.04.2025, International:

Every year in March, the APAIE (Asia-Pacific Association for International Education), one of the most important international networking fairs for student exchange, takes place. HNU was represented again this year to strengthen existing partnerships and establish new ones.

This year's APAIE was held in New Delhi, India. Under the umbrella of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and its booth 'Study in Germany - Land of Ideas', Verena Seitz, Director of the International Office, represented HNU at the Bavarian booth 'Study in Bavaria'. She held numerous meetings to deepen relationships with existing partners and to make new contacts with the aim of expanding the network and creating additional exchange opportunities for new degree programmes.

There was also an extensive supporting programme: the DAAD celebrated its 100th anniversary as well as 65 years of DAAD in India and hosted numerous events. The Indo-German Forum focused on academic relations between India and Germany, while the India Briefing at the German Embassy explored the framework conditions, challenges and opportunities for cooperation in the higher education sector. As many students from India are now studying at HNU, these insights were particularly valuable.

The Bavarian universities were accompanied by the Bavarian-Indian Centre (BayIND), which provided technical and organisational support to the Bavarian universities with its country expertise.

After the fair in New Delhi, Verena Seitz visited the BayIND office in Bangalore to find out about opportunities for HNU students to undertake internships abroad. She also visited the long-standing partner university Kristu Jayanti College and two new partners: Dayananda Sagar University and Presidency University. At all three universities, intensive discussions took place on student exchange opportunities (study semesters, short stays, internships) and other possibilities for cooperation.
