The student survey examines the living situation, social background and attitudes of students as well as their study situation and the challenges associated with it. It is the largest survey of its kind ever conducted in Germany. On 10 May, you received an email inviting you to take the survey.
The aim of the survey is to get a realistic picture of the situation of students in Germany. Only in this way can it be recorded where politics, society and universities need to intervene to improve the situation of students. This is especially important in times when the framework conditions for studying have changed significantly - as we are currently experiencing in the wake of the Corona pandemic and the digitalisation of studying.
What does that mean in concrete terms? Only if we ask how much money students need for their living expenses can BAföG be adjusted accordingly or support programmes be set up. Only if the challenges of students with children, with disabilities or with a migration background are known can they be supported in a targeted manner. Only if it is recorded why students drop out of their studies or why delays occur in the course of their studies can assistance and counselling and support services be adapted accordingly.
Only if we ask about the general study conditions, about challenges and difficulties that students experience, can the situation be improved for all.
