Every year, the city magazine SpaZz publishes a list of the most important people from Ulm and Neu-Ulm in the areas of "Administration & Politics," "Business & Digital," "Social & Sports," "Gastronomy, Retail & Services," "Media, Education & Culture," and "Medicine & Science.
The twelve-member jury selected by SpaZz determined 111 personalities who have an influence in the above-mentioned areas, shape Ulm and Neu-Ulm's city life or act as a beacon through their commitment to the region. HNU President Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser was voted into 4th place; Vice President Prof. Dr. Julia Kormann took 49th place.
Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser (opens in a new window) has been President of Neu-Ulm University since 2006 and is now in her fourth term of office. From 2012 to 2020, she was also on the board of Hochschule Bayern e. v., shaping the Bavarian higher education landscape. SpaZz magazine writes about her: "Even in her fourth term as president of Neu-Ulm University, Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser continues to be very active. She understands how to perfectly orient the university towards the future - and is rightly at the top of this list."
Prof. Dr. Julia Kormann (opens in a new window) is Vice President for Studies and Teaching, Sustainability at Neu-Ulm University. She is also active in a broad range of activities beyond her role as Vice President of Neu-Ulm University: she is head of the Center for Interdisciplinary, International and Engaged Learning (ZiieL) and head of the Corporate Communications Competence Center. She has been involved in the region for ten years - among other things, for sustainability and the common good. The jury found: "After last year's spectacular leap from 80th to 53rd place, Prof. Dr. Julia Kormann continues to make strides and crack the top 50 of this list. As Vice President for Studies and Teaching at Neu-Ulm University, she championed the interests of students during corona-induced ups and downs and back and forth between face-to-face and online teaching."
