Neu-Ulm University continues to maintain its student numbers at a high level. For two years, the number has been continuously well above 4,000 students. For the winter semester 2022/23, around 4,150 students are enrolled. This can be attributed, among other things, to the introduction of several new degree programs such as Physician Assistant, Game Production and Management, and Business Psychology, which are generating high application numbers in their respective faculties. In addition, several new master's degree programs have been launched that follow on from existing bachelor's degree programs in terms of subject matter and have thus been able to convince HNU graduates to continue their studies in Neu-Ulm.
Prof. Dr. Julia Kormann, Vice President for Studies and Teaching, is pleased that students can once again meet each other on site: "After four Corona semesters, during which learning and teaching on site was only possible to a limited extent, students and teachers are once again meeting in person in the corridors and lecture halls. The personal skills that are so important require the social interaction that makes the study period a formative experience." At the start of the semester, Kormann welcomed the new students in the university's refectory. This welcome also took place in presence for the first time since the beginning of the Corona crisis. Other HNU contact persons also introduced themselves on site. Christoph Giebeler, for example, explained his role as head of the Counseling and Information Center for Parents, Personal and Social Affairs (BIZEPS), where he provides advice on personal challenges such as exam anxiety, family care cases, studying with a child or financial problems.
New degree program launched: Interface between IT and management
The Digital Medicine and Care Management degree program has been newly launched for the winter semester 2022/23. The course content is made up of the fields of medicine and nursing, IT, and healthcare management. Graduates can be deployed at the interface of IT and management in healthcare. They can be involved in patient care processes and thus work comparatively close to patients.
Focus on sustainability: Two new masters to start in summer semester 2023
For the 2023 summer semester, for which prospective students can apply from November 15, 2022, two new master's degrees will start, both of which focus - in different ways - on sustainability.
The Communication and Design for Sustainability master's program combines a highly topical mindset with critical theory and practical application. The program focuses on how to develop and communicate attractive sustainable lifestyles. Students should be able to design transformation and transition processes transparently and to plan and communicate them with the involvement of various stakeholders. To this end, specialized technical or conceptual methods are developed to solve strategic problems in order to transform social and economic conditions technically, socially and creatively.
In the Social Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development program, students learn how social entrepreneurship can be used to develop innovative solutions for greater holistic sustainability in corporate business models as well as in international development collaborations. They are thus prepared for entrepreneurial and responsible leadership positions in the field of sustainability management, innovation management and international management in companies, governmental and non-governmental organizations.
