The Impact Entrepreneurship Event offered the participating founders the platform to present their startups and projects. The pitches provided insights into different areas and showed how sustainable innovations can positively impact society. Afterwards, the enthusiastic audience had the opportunity to ask questions and further exchange ideas with the founders.
Special attention was given to speakers from different industries who all share the same goal: To promote sustainability and create positive impact. One of the featured projects was Sea2Fresh, presented by Michael Forsthofer. The goal of this project is to save human lives in a sustainable way by converting salty and contaminated water into clean drinking water using Sea2Fresh technology.
Another startup that generated a lot of interest was Spoontainable, presented by Julia Piechotta. Under the slogan "Don't Waste It - Taste It," this already established Heidelberg-based company sells edible plastic alternatives made from rescued cocoa and oat shells. Through their innovative upcycling process, these shells are developed into fibers that are the main components of edible spoons and stir sticks.
In addition, Sébastien Diaz de Corcuera presented the MuWind project. MuWind provides sustainable, powerful and robust small wind turbines for off-grid applications. The locally manufactured 1kW wind turbine is made mostly of reusable ISO standard materials and can be installed in many regions without a building permit. It generates enough electricity to meet the average power needs of a German household (about 4000 kWh).
The pitches were followed by guest lectures by scientists from Rwanda and Kenya on the topic of "Social Entrepreneurship and Social Change through Innovations in Food Business". A discussion round with the speakers and guest lecturers rounded off the event.
The close cooperation between Neu-Ulm University, Founders Space, the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research (ENI) Stuttgart and the innovative founders has once again shown how important and topical the subject of impact entrepreneurship is.
The event was a great success and made it clear that impact entrepreneurship can make an important contribution to creating a sustainable future. Neu-Ulm University and its partners remain committed to fostering innovation and entrepreneurial ideas that can positively change our society.
