The HNU scientist took part in the “Startup Arena” at this year's summit - a debate format that brought together representatives from science, start-ups and companies to take a look at the Earth of the future in the form of a literal “moonshot”: What impact have innovative technologies brought to this thought experiment, for example in the fields of energy, medicine or smart cities?
Prof. Dr. Johannes Schobel, computer scientist and research professor for “Digital Medicine and Care”, is developing new concepts and approaches at the DigiHealth Institute to drive forward digitalization in the healthcare sector. His research interests include mobile health applications (mHealth apps), artificial intelligence in healthcare - particularly for the detection and assessment of tumors - and (structured) data collection in clinical and psychological studies.
Based on this expertise, Prof. Dr. Schobel presented his vision of future smart healthcare in the “Startup Arena” and explained how digital solutions could have a lasting impact on healthcare in Germany in the coming years and decades.

The StartupSÜD Summit is an annual event for the regional startup ecosystem and part of the StartupSÜD start-up initiative, which is supported by the universities in Biberach, Neu-Ulm and Ulm as well as the University of Ulm. The aim of the network is to identify the entrepreneurial potential of student ideas and talents and to support them in the start-up process. The project is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection as part of the EXIST-Potentials initiative.
