Prestigious distinction: Prof. Dr. Heiko Gewald elected into the AIS College of Senior Scholars

Only a few particularly successful researchers are given the honor of being accepted into the Senior Scholar College of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) - Prof. Dr. Heiko Gewald, Research Professor of Information Management at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU), is one of them. The AIS College of Senior Scholars (CSS) is the highest-ranking international body for academics in the field of information systems.

The AIS College of Senior Scholars is the highest-ranking academic body of the Association for Information Systems. It recognizes the most accomplished academics in the Information Systems discipline. Membership is granted by invitation only, and is reserved for those who have made outstanding and sustained contributions to the advancement of the field through research, mentorship, and service. The AIS College of Senior Scholars plays an important role in shaping the future of the information systems field by advising on matters of research integrity, mentoring junior faculty, and providing strategic direction for the AIS.

Professor Gewald’s election to the College recognizes his longstanding contribution to information systems research, specifically in the context of digital innovations for the ageing generation, as well as his leadership in academic services. Prof. Gewald was co-chair of the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in 2024, the most important global information systems conference. He also serves as Track Chair for the IT in Healthcare track on the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) for more than 5 years and is co-head of the Digital Health Group of the German Informatics Society.

Founded in 2004, the AIS College of Senior Scholars currently consists of 171 members from all over the world, including ten from German universities. Prof. Dr. Heiko Gewald is the only member from a university of applied sciences.
