30.04.2026, Research:

Dr. Felix Holl, a postdoctoral researcher and deputy director of the DigiHealth Institute at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU), has been appointed editor-in-chief of the newly launched journal “BMJ Connections Digital Health & AI.” Published by the BMJ Publishing Group, the journal expands the portfolio of scientific journals in the field of digital health and artificial intelligence.

“BMJ Connections Digital Health & AI” is a companion title to the journal “BMJ Digital Health & AI,” which launched in spring 2025 and is positioned as the flagship journal within the BMJ series. The so-called Connections Journals complement these flagship titles with a focus on impact and rapidly growing research areas in biomedicine. SThey provide a platform for methodologically sound research—regardless of the type of result, including negative or null results, or the scope of the study—and adhere to the scientific standards of the BMJ Group.

With its strong practical focus, “BMJ Connections Digital Health & AI” is particularly relevant for applied research in the field of digital health and offers an attractive publication opportunity for research-intensive universities of applied sciences.

Dr. Felix Holl brings extensive experience to his new role: He is an associate editor of the journal npj Digital Public Health and a member of the editorial boards of BMC Digital Health, PLOS Digital Health, and Digital Health (Sage). In addition, he serves on the Journals and Publications Committee of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA).
