The university administrations of the universities of Neu-Ulm, Biberach, Kempten as well as the Ulm University of Technology and the University of Ulm signed a declaration of intent in May to establish a dual-career network in the region.
Dual-career services at colleges or universities and in companies support the moving partners of new specialists and managers in the region in also finding new jobs and establishing a common centre of life. They provide information for dual-career couples and advise the partners moving in with them in their search for professional career and connection opportunities.
Dual-Career Network: Linking science and business in the competition for specialists and executives
The cross-university initiative now brings these services together. The aim of the network is to jointly ensure the best possible support for dual-career couples and to optimise the recruitment of skilled workers in and around (Neu-)Ulm, Biberach and Kempten. The recruitment of new professors depends, among other things, on whether the dual-career partner sees career prospects in the region, explains HNU President Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser. "With the new network, we not only offer better conditions for dual-career couples at our universities, but also ensure that the entire region becomes more attractive for potential specialists and managers."
In line with the diversity guidelines anchored at the universities, the dual-career offer includes diverse partnership forms. The focus is particularly on supporting female partners of female professors and junior academics in order to increase the proportion of women at the universities.
