Graduates celebrate farewell to Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences

28.09.2021, Press Release :

Under the title "Absolventen-Apéro", around 130 students toasted their graduation from Neu-Ulm University (HNU) on Friday, 24 September 2021. The event was held corona-style in glorious late summer weather on the HNU campus. The Neu-Ulm University Award went to Claudia Nehm for her outstanding thesis.

"The sun is shining in Neu-Ulm and I am happy to finally welcome students back to campus," said HNU President Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser, welcoming the approximately 130 graduates to the university campus. The graduation ceremony took place in the open air directly at the artwork "Gateway to the World". Feser: "As an international business school, we have opened the gate to the world wide for you in the best sense of the word: through lectures in English, international guest lecturers, excursions to companies and organisations abroad, opportunities to study abroad, a double degree or an internship abroad. Always with the aim of offering you the chance to broaden your professional as well as your personal horizons. Most of you have made use of this and thus created a very good foundation for your future."

Neu-Ulm University Award: 1,000 euros for an excellent final thesis

Graduate Claudia Nehm has built a particularly good foundation for her future. She received the Neu-Ulmer University Prize, endowed with 1,000 euros, from the HNU Sponsors' Association for her final thesis in Business Administration. Günter Augustin, Chairman of the Sponsors' Association of Neu-Ulm University, presented the prize together with HNU President Feser and Christopher Cordes, Academic Coordinator.

In her bachelor's thesis, which was graded with a 1.0, Nehm dealt with "Multiplier methods in business valuation - theoretical consideration and analysis of suitable multipliers based on a case study from the automotive industry". The academic evaluation of the thesis states that it was presented in an above-average, independent and technically very good manner with good reference to practice. The structure was logical and coherent. The results of the empirical study were forward-looking.

Graduation speech: Remembrance of the "carefree time" before Corona

Simon Oed successfully completed his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Neu-Ulm University in 2021. In his graduation speech, he recalled the "carefree time" his fellow students had when they started their studies in 2017/2018 - when there was still no sign of Corona and the associated restrictions of student life. During his time as a student, the HNU campus expanded: Building B was completed and opened. Many of his fellow students "gained experience abroad and developed themselves further", which Oed considers positive. He also liked "the mix of theory and practice" at HNU, which "made studying so special".

Corona-compliant celebrations

During the festivities, the square in front of Neu-Ulm University was cordoned off. The number of participants was limited; everyone had to register in advance.
