By mid-February 2022, it was already clear that Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser had been elected to represent the universities on the Media Council of the Bavarian Regulatory Authority for Commercial Broadcasting (BLM) with 28 of 28 votes. The constituent meeting of the Council will now take place on Thursday, May 12, 2022.
50 representatives of socially relevant groups in Bavaria - such as universities - are members of the pluralistically composed body. The members are to ensure diversity of opinion and balance, and monitor compliance with programming principles. They also approve broadcasting services, agree on the business plan, decide on funding measures, draw up guidelines for program organization and elect the president and members of the board of directors. The members of the Media Council form committees to prepare meetings in a more targeted manner.
The Media Council constituted itself for the first time on March 20, 1985. The members of the Media Council are each appointed for a five-year term. Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser's term of office began on May 1, 2022 and ends on April 30, 2027.
