At the annual event, more than 50 PhD students from all over Europe presented their respective research focus and current findings in poster sessions.
Robin Renoth (opens in a new window), who is doing his doctorate cooperatively at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences and the Technical University of Munich as part of the BayWISS Collaborative College Life Sciences and Green Technologies, presented his research on the topic of social acceptance of geothermal projects.
Social acceptance as an essential factor in geothermal projects
Social actors and the population play an increasingly important role in geothermal projects. Based on societal reservations and concerns about geothermal energy as an energy generation option, the HNU-Promovend therefore identifies and weights a variety of acceptance factors in the context of geothermal energy in its project. The goal of his sociologically oriented work is to objectify critical factors in the planning and implementation of geothermal projects and to enable approaches to solutions for the integration of different social groups in project implementation. The poster presented at EPGD 2022 was developed in collaboration of Robin Renoth with Priv.-Doz. Elmar Buchner, Prof. Dr. Michael Drews, Dr. Maximilian Keim, Prof. Dr. Roland Koenigsdorff, Prof. Manfred Plechaty and Dr. Martin Schmieder.
The great interest in the topic and the positive feedback on the EGPD 2022 illustrate the social and scientific relevance of the topic and strengthen the effort to continue researching the acceptance of geothermal power plants.
