Based on the four pillars of information, advice, training and networking, the program supports female HNU researchers in their individual career planning through information events on doctoral studies and professorships, advisory services, a wide range of workshops and coaching, and networking opportunities. By participating in several offerings in the areas of communication and presentation, scientific work, leadership and management, and networks and career planning, female scientists can also qualify for the associated certificate. "Frauen.Machen.Wissenschaft is a unique support program for female scientists at an HAW," explains Dr. habil. Felicitas Meifert-Menhard, who conceived Frauen.Machen.Wissenschaft on the initiative of HNU Women's Representative Prof. Dr. Claudia Kocian-Dirr and has since coordinated and supported its content. "My aim is to offer participants ongoing opportunities for further development and, in doing so, to respond specifically to their individual wishes and needs."
Targeted offers for female science careers
The program started in spring 2021 with initial workshops and advisory services and has been continuously built up and expanded over the past two years. Now, the first female participant has completed all 40 60-minute work sessions required for the certificate: Melanie Jakubowski, research associate for the sustainable, digital transformation of SMEs and for the project "Digitalkompetenzen@Bayerisch Schwaben," may hold the first certificate in her hands. Dr. habil. Felicitas Meifert-Menhard presented the certificate and congratulated the research assistant on successfully completing the program.
"The offers of Frauen.Machen.Wissenschaft can be combined precisely and individually for one's own career development," says Melanie Jakubowski. "I have benefited greatly from this both professionally and personally. The program has convinced me and I look forward to receiving further certificates from my female colleagues."
