Third event of the AI Innovation Circle at HNU: Implementing AI lighthouse projects

06.08.2024, Transfer:

From AI in recruiting to the development of AI strategies: At the third AI Innovation Circle (AIC) event at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) on July 17, the program included presentations, workshops and discussions as well as insights into the implementation of specific AI projects for the more than 30 participating company representatives.

Under the title "Successfully implementing AI lighthouse projects", Prof. Dr. Jens Kolb, HNU Vice President for Transfer and Continuing Education, hosted the third event of HNU's AIC, which was founded at the beginning of 2024. The practical network aims to create sustainable value for the participating companies through interdisciplinary cooperation.

Implementing AI lighthouse projects
How can Generative AI (GenAI) be implemented more quickly in companies? This was the topic of the presentation by Matti Bouffier, Senior Business Development Specialist at cloud computing provider Amazon Web Services. Using practical examples, he showed that lighthouse projects can accelerate the use of GenAI. Bouffier emphasized the importance of scalable cloud solutions for the development and implementation of innovative AI applications and explained specific steps for a successful project launch.

Practical example from the industry: AI in recruiting
Jens Feuerlein, Deputy Managing Director of cigus, explained the extent to which AI can support a company's HR department. He offered insights into the company's own AI, which optimizes the matching process of applicants and thus partially automates entire recruiting processes.

Workshop on the development of AI strategies
The second part of the event got down to business: Following the presentation of proven procedures and best practices by Prof. Dr. Klaus Lang from the HNU, the participants identified four different AI strategies in four workshops.

Outlook: AI Leadership training program
At the end of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Jens Kolb presented the new "AI Leadership" training course, which provides managers with the skills and knowledge to successfully manage and implement AI projects. This programme aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to recognize and exploit the strategic potential of AI in their organizations. Prof. Dr. Klaus Lang is delighted with the popularity of the event: "Finding the right entry point via AI lighthouse projects is crucial to convince managers and employees, build trust and pave the way for a more comprehensive AI implementation."

The AI Innovation Circle is an initiative of HNU professors Dr. Klaus Lang, Dr. Jens Kolb, Dr. Alexander Bartel and Dr. Daniel Schallmo from the Institute for Digital Transformation. It sees itself as a platform for pioneers from industry and science to jointly explore the transformative potential of AI.
