As part of the Digital Logistic Services and Entrepreneurship (DLSE) project, students from the degree programs Information Management and Corporate Communication (IMUK), Digital Enterprise Management (DEM), and Communication and Information Management (KIM) worked in eight mixed teams alongside students from the Uganda Management Institute and the University of the Western Cape. The goal was to co-develop innovative and practical solutions to real-world challenges faced by start-ups in Uganda and South Africa.
Throughout the week, students engaged in:
- Interdisciplinary and intercultural collaboration, promoting cross-border academic and professional exchange
- Workshops and discussions with local start-ups, offering insight into entrepreneurial ecosystems in East and Southern Africa
- Development of practice-oriented solutions tailored to the specific needs of young enterprises
- Application-based learning at the intersection of logistics, digital innovation, and entrepreneurship
The program concluded with a final presentation event, where student groups presented their project outcomes. The results reflected not only creative thinking and technical insight, but also a strong commitment to actionable, context-sensitive problem solving for the start-up sector.
The DLSE project is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the BMZ and exemplifies HNU’s strategic focus on international, practice-based learning formats that prepare students to operate effectively in global innovation environments.
