This project was initiated by Prof. Dr Jürgen Grinninger, who is keen to give secondary school pupils access to modern technologies: “It is very important to us to forge even closer links between schools in the region and the university and the TTZ,” he emphasises. “We want to introduce children and young people at an early stage to technologies that will be an integral part of their future.”
Experience 3D printing first-hand
The visit focused on 3D printing: using specialised software, the pupils designed their own objects, which were then produced on site. For many of the participants, this was their first experience of this technology – and at the same time a glimpse into a learning environment that is usually reserved for university students. The excitement was palpable when the objects they had designed themselves emerged from the printer.
AI Prompting for Teachers
In the afternoon, the programme was aimed at secondary school teachers. During a practical training session on AI prompting, they were given ideas on how artificial intelligence can be used effectively in the classroom. The focus was on how targeted prompts can support learning processes and help to design lessons in innovative ways.
Holistic Approach to Education
The combination of pupil workshops and teacher training underscores the TTZ Leipheim’s commitment to a holistic approach to education and to equipping both learners and teachers for the demands of the digital future.
Through his commitment, Prof. Dr Jürgen Grinninger is sending a clear message: modern technologies should be accessible to everyone – regardless of their educational background. Further projects with pupils and teachers in Leipheim are already in the planning stage.
