“Impact Schwaben” brings business and research together in Leipheim

22.04.2026, Transfer:

About 80 people attended the networking event “Impact Schwaben – Smart Solutions for the Industry of Tomorrow,” which was jointly organized by the two Technology Transfer Centers (TTZ) at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU): the TTZ Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence and the TTZ Smart Production and Logistics. Representatives from academia and industry used the event to discuss key future topics such as cybersecurity, AI, and digitalization.

The goal was to support regional small and medium-sized businesses and provide guidance in light of growing cyber risks and increasingly dynamic technological developments. A special feature of the event: The participants’ key interests were identified at the outset using a “topic sensor” and addressed in several presentations throughout the event, including applications of artificial intelligence, automation and smart manufacturing, secure and resilient systems, and sustainable supply chains.

Keynote on Digital Attacks: Are We Prepared?

Following the opening remarks by Monika Wiesmüller-Schwab, Deputy District Administrator of Günzburg, a keynote address was delivered on the topic “Tomorrow’s Digital Attacks – Are We Prepared?”: Prof. Dr. Tobias Eggendorfer from the Ingolstadt University of Technology spoke about issues related to cybersecurity, the security of digital systems, and resilience.

Insights into Current TTZ Priorities

Following this, the participants were given an overview of current TTZ projects: Prof. Dr. Aykan Inan presented “Secure AI & Cyber Resilience for Digital Infrastructures,” a topic that the TTZ Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence is currently exploring in depth. Prof. Dr. Tobias Engel from the TTZ Smart Production and Logistics addressed the topic “Industry Meets the Metaverse – Projects Shaping the Future,” and Florian Rother (BMW Group) presented a collaborative project between the TTZ Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence and the BMW Group in his talk “When Machine Code Becomes Understandable: AI Enables Automation and Optimization.” As part of a “poster safari,” participants were also able to learn about specific research and collaboration projects and engage in conversation with research staff.

“Impact Schwaben” promotes dialogue on innovation and future-oriented topics in the region

Participants particularly appreciated the professional exchange and the practical focus of the event. “Impact Schwaben” thus provided further impetus for dialogue on innovation and future-oriented topics in the region.
