Africa’s economies are characterized by dynamism and diversity, yet German companies have so far only tapped into them selectively. The Africa Institute at HNU, in collaboration with the Ulm Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK Ulm), is organizing the Africa Business Forum on July 23, 2026, at the IHK Ulm premises—free of charge and featuring sessions in both German and English.

Africa is one of the world’s most dynamic economic regions and offers German companies numerous growth opportunities—ranging from industry and infrastructure to digital solutions, as well as energy transition and raw materials projects. Ten African countries rank among the twenty fastest-growing economies worldwide. Nevertheless, Africa’s share of German foreign trade remains at only about two to three percent, meaning that much of this potential remains untapped.

The Africa Business Forum - Roadmaps to Success in Africa’s Future Markets brings this potential to life. This interactive event is aimed at companies from the region interested in concrete market opportunities, sustainable business models, and successful forms of cooperation across various African economic regions.

The focus is on practical insights into selected industries and countries. In panel discussions on skilled workers and entrepreneurship, business owners share firsthand accounts of market entry strategies, collaboration with local startup ecosystems, and the development of sustainable business models on the ground. In addition, experts provide insights into legal frameworks, financing and funding opportunities, and current economic developments.

Regional workshops on East and Southern Africa deepen the discussion and provide a nuanced view of market conditions, cooperation models, and industry-specific opportunities.

The event offers an opportunity to
•    identify specific market opportunities in various African countries,
•    learn from the success stories of German companies,
•    discuss specific questions regarding market entry, skilled workers, financing, and risk mitigation, and
•    build targeted networks with companies, institutions, and key players.

A joint event organized by the Ulm Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK Ulm) and Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences. Participation in this event, which is supported by the Enterprise Europe Network, is free of charge. The programme will be conducted in both German and English.  (opens in a new window)
