10th edition of the IDT Open Lab

The Open Lab of the Institute for Digital Transformation ("IDT Open Lab") took place for the tenth time on May 24, 2023. This time, experts from science and practice gave short keynote speeches on the topic of "ChatGPT and possible applications in companies". More than 60 company representatives accepted the invitation to the Innovation Space at Neu-Ulm University (HNU).

Four experts conveyed current insights and shared their experiences in the field of ChatGPT and Large Language Models: Prof. Dr. Achim Dehnert gave an overview of the status quo, practical examples and areas of application of ChatGPT in the first presentation. Mark-W. Schmidt, Head of msg Artificial Intelligence, showed how Large Language Models can revolutionize customer support. Stiv Sterjo from Google Germany reported on google's approaches and solutions to Generative AI. The series of lectures was rounded off by Ralf Walther from MindUp Web Intelligence GmbH, who gave insights and practical examples into knowledge extraction with the right prompt.

Afterwards, the participants had the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas with the speakers. The discussions and conversations made it clear that the new AI tools have disruptive potential and will fundamentally change the way we work and live.

The "IDT Open Lab" event series, which contributes to the transfer of know-how between Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences and companies in the region, has firmly established itself as an event format and will be further expanded as a platform. Further events and training courses on AI are being planned.
