HNU project ‘stand-by.care’ represented at DATIpilot event

Under the motto "Innovation on the road: Reinforcing ideas - creating innovations", the DATIpilot roadshow made a stop at the Unperfekthaus in Essen on July 4. Jennifer Kircher, research assistant at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU), represented the DATIpilot project “stand-by.care”, which the university is carrying out together with artiso solutions GmbH.

With the DATIpilot funding program, the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) is providing new impetus for knowledge and technology transfer via the German Agency for Transfer and Innovation (DATI). In 2024, HNU won an innovation sprint with the “stand-by.care” project for the intelligent detection of emergency situations in the home environment of older people. As part of the funding, events are held across Germany to strengthen knowledge transfer within the DATIpilot innovation ecosystem, encourage reflection on entrepreneurial perspectives and drive strategic development.

Networking and new impetus for stand-by.care

In Essen, the series of events offered a variety of interactive workshops and methodological impulses on topics such as cooperation management and entrepreneurship. Participants were able to try out methodological tools and gain insights into specific examples of how to create effective collaborations. The aim was to gain a better understanding of synergies and conflicting goals within project partnerships. In a lunch talk, participants were also able to ask experts specific questions about innovation ecosystems and then discuss them together. A concluding impulse talk presented best practices from innovation and start-ups.

"The event gave me valuable impetus for the strategic development of our project. The networking and exchange of experiences with other project members and experts was particularly enriching,“ said Jennifer Kircher, research associate in the ”stand-by.care" project, which is taking the safety of older people in their own homes to a new level: Using a socket and sensor system for household appliances, abnormalities in the everyday activity profile of those affected are to be detected and relatives informed directly about possible emergencies.
