New Approaches to Collaboration: HNU Engages with Ulrich Medical

21.05.2026, University News:

How can universities and companies work together to address future challenges and further develop their collaboration? During a discussion between HNU President Prof. Dr. Julia Kormann and Ivanka Burger, Head of Project Development, Transfer, and Collaboration, along with Managing Director Christoph Ulrich and Marie-Thérèse Siegl, Head of Human Resources, the focus was on future skill requirements and new forms of collaboration.

Prof. Dr. Julia Kormann outlined the key priorities of her presidency under the theme “Needs-Based Innovations for the Region.” She focused in particular on digital transformation, the use of artificial intelligence, and the skills required of future graduates.

Particular emphasis was placed on the question of how universities can best prepare their students for a changing world of work. The discussion covered both technological developments and new demands on skills, collaboration, and innovation. Participants also discussed ways to further expand joint projects and practice-oriented teaching formats. “Digital transformation and artificial intelligence are changing the skills that will matter tomorrow,” says Christoph Ulrich. “With the HNU, we aim to do just that: bring in real-world knowledge, develop new formats, and specifically prepare students for the workplace of tomorrow.”

HNU’s new degree programs also generated significant interest. Both sides emphasized the importance of close collaboration between the university and businesses to drive innovation and provide students with early insights into the professional world.
