Online barbecue course: MAM students cooperate with ILLER-Factory GmbH

95 HNU students have the opportunity to participate in a pilot project for the ILLER Factory on Friday, 11 June 2021, to grill and enjoy several courses and thus spend time together - virtually - despite contact restrictions. Registrations are open until Monday, 24 May 2021, at grillertal.hnu@gmx.de. In addition to the students, five readers of the Südwest Presse have the opportunity to participate in the online event.

Provided that barbecues are held in corona-compliant groups, the registration of one person is sufficient. The shopping list and invitation link will be sent to all participants about a week before the barbecue date, the exact recipes will only be published on the day of the event.

Enormous amount of work, but instructive supplement to the lecture

The aim of the elective subject Project Management in the second semester of the MAM Master's programme is to support the ILLER Factory in the possible digitalisation of barbecue courses and to generate awareness for current problems of service providers. Lecturer Nicole Diesinger says: "Despite the current Corona situation, we have found a strong partner in the ILLER-Factory with a challenging and forward-looking task that enables my MAM students to work in a practice-oriented and realistic way. With the project "Zoom Online Barbecue", the individual teams face the tasks of planning, organising and ultimately implementing it in a live event on 11 June 2021. Admittedly - the workload of each individual - is enormous and is coordinated independently alongside the lectures. But I consider the practical experience with all the successes, but also downfalls, to be extremely instructive and a one hundred percent complement to the lecture. One can be excited!"

Respect for the professional MAM students

Marco Stolze, Managing Director of ILLER-Factory GmbH, says about the cooperation with the HNU students: "To take on and implement this enormous task in this Corona-conditioned, very restricted environment, I can only pay a high respect to the students and their mentors. The cooperation with the MAM students has been very professional and the organisation behind it is simply outstanding. Just as the students were able to experience practical relevance in our Iller Factory with this project, we are also convinced that digital media will open up extensions and new possibilities for our barbecue and cooking seminars."

Leading interdisciplinary teams already during studies

Darius Leimer, MAM student, is positive about the event: "The elective course enables me to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience on the topic of project management already during my studies and also to establish valuable contacts with business partners." He is mainly responsible for internal organisation: "This includes, among other things, keeping track of all project teams and monitoring the project plan. In addition, there is the communication with our cooperation/ or practice partner ILLER-Factory GmbH." The role as an organisational member allows Leimer to gain insights into all the individual project teams: "This means that I learn what it means to lead interdisciplinary teams and coordinate them while I'm still studying."
