The week focused on the question of how innovative ideas in the One Health context—an interdisciplinary approach at the intersection of human, veterinary, and environmental medicine—can be translated into viable business models. Through workshops, lectures, and interactive sessions, participants engaged intensively with entrepreneurship, digitalization, and current challenges in the healthcare sector. Students in the Business Studies in Healthcare Management programme were particularly enthusiastic. Together with international guests, they developed creative and forward-looking approaches.
Hackathon and projects on future-oriented topics as highlights of the week
A highlight was the international hackathon, during which mixed teams developed and presented creative solutions to real-world problems. The students impressed with their innovative spirit, team spirit, and strong problem-solving skills.
The programme was complemented by projects such as “Smart Solutions in Wellbeing,” led by Prof. Dr. Alexander Würfel, and “Ethics, AI, and Medicine,” led by Prof. Dr. Walter Swoboda, as part of the SUCOH initiative. Both initiatives explored current issues surrounding technology, ethics, and health and offered insights into the future of healthcare.
The event was organized at HNU under the direction of Prof. Dr. Silvia Straub in collaboration with colleagues from HNU and the international partner universities.
Over the past three years, the SUCOH initiative has built an international reach. The sustained interest is also evident in the first registrations for 2027.
