Frequently asked questions
How long does the program last?
The standard period of study is four semesters (part-time, alongside professional work) and also includes the examinations including the master's thesis.
When do the lectures take place?
The program is conducted in a hybrid model, combining on-site and online teaching.
Per module, two Friday afternoons and two Saturdays take place on-site. In addition, there is one live online evening session per module.
What is the ratio of on-site vs. online teaching?
The majority of the program takes place on-site.
Per module, there are:
- two Friday afternoons and
- two Saturdays on-site
In addition, one live online evening session takes place per module. Thus, the focus is clearly on personal exchange and on-site work, while the online unit offers additional flexibility and allows content to be deepened regardless of location.
How practice-oriented is the structure of the degree program?
The degree program is designed to be consistently practice-oriented.
The content is not only taught theoretically, but directly linked to concrete application examples, case studies, and current issues from professional practice.
Our lecturers have practical experience of their own and bring real projects and challenges into the classes. This allows you to apply what you have learned directly to your professional context.
The goal is for you not only to acquire knowledge, but to develop concrete competencies that you can apply directly in your daily work.
Is the part-time MBA program also of interest to me if I already have a Master's degree?
Yes, because the part-time MBA program is of interest to you if you want to prepare specifically for taking on leadership and management tasks.
The goals of the degree program are:
- Teaching business administration, economics, and legal know-how
- Teaching key competencies in the areas of personnel management and entrepreneurship
- Preparation for strategic management tasks
- Reflection on the leadership role and strengthening of leadership personality
- Preparation for activities in an international environment
When do I have to choose my specialization?
You can choose your specialization during the course of the first semester. This gives you enough time at the beginning of your studies to get an overview and make an informed decision.
Three specializations are available to choose from:
- Strategic Transformation in Volatile Environments
- Digital Transformation & Artificial Intelligence
- Sustainability Transformation & Circular Economy
Please note that a specialization will only take place if the respective minimum number of participants is reached.
Therefore, we ask you to indicate two preferences when making your choice. If your first choice cannot be realized, you will automatically be assigned to your second chosen specialization.
Can I change my specialization during my studies?
With this choice, you bindingly determine your specialization. Since the specialization consists of two coordinated modules, changing it during this phase is not possible.
What happens if I miss appointments due to professional commitments?
Generally, there is no mandatory attendance for lectures. Materials from missed lectures can easily be accessed via the e-learning platform at any time.
By attending on-site events, you increase your social skills, because through discussions and professional debates you learn how to handle teamwork as well as assertive strategies. Furthermore, the exchange within the interdisciplinary participant group offers interesting insights.
The on-site events provide you with clearly defined periods to step away from your everyday professional and family life and focus on your studies.
What are the benefits of a Master of Business Administration degree?
During your studies, you acquire qualified business management and decision-making knowledge that prepares you for taking on leadership roles or significantly supports you in exercising them.
To this end, the Center for Continuing Education imparts sound, practice-oriented knowledge in the essential operational functional areas, in cross-functional and leadership roles, as well as personal key qualifications. The goal is to understand complex macroeconomic relationships, take them into account in decision-making, successfully implement required change processes, and steer business areas or companies in the defined direction.
In this study program, you will reflect on your leadership role, acquire knowledge in personnel management, and strengthen your leadership personality through professional discussions and presentations in an interdisciplinary group environment.
With the international orientation of the degree program, we aim to raise awareness of the problems and challenges resulting from the internationalization and globalization of the economy.
The competencies and knowledge you acquire in this study program are suitable for application to companies across a wide variety of industries and sizes. Successful completion enables you to generally assume functions in general management.
