What made you decide to study at HNU?
I really liked the practical learning approach, combined with a practical semester in real healthcare companies, and the small size of the programme, so that's why I chose it. The friendly atmosphere with professors, guest lecturers and fellow students made the programme perfect and great for learning and explaining things to each other.

Straightforward or circuitous: How did your school career unfold and what were your interests as a younger person?
Healthcare was not always on my mind. Before university, I definitely wanted to pursue a future-proof field. And healthcare certainly offers that. It is a sector that is as diverse as it is large. When I was younger, I always wanted to be a pilot. Now I have a different calling, and I enjoy it immensely.

What tips would you give to students on your course?
Don't forget to network at events. Seek out conversations with guest lecturers and show interest. Interacting with fellow students is also a great benefit.

Challenging or a piece of cake: What was your internship semester like and what tasks did you take on?
The internship semester was a successful start to the world of practical work. And here I realised once again how large and diverse the healthcare sector is. A machine manufacturer can also be active in the healthcare sector. Early on in my internship semester, I was given the opportunity to take on responsibility and complete small projects. At the end of the internship semester, I continued as a working student for two years. I was able to see and learn a lot and be part of a large strategy project with my own area of responsibility. Don't be afraid of practical experience!

What advice would you give to all graduates who are looking for their first job?
Don't accept the first offer you get. The devil is often in the details. I acted a little too hastily. But even that probably opened the doors to my current job. There are no wrong decisions, you just have to make the best of it and everything has its purpose.

Please describe your daily work routine. What projects are you working on and which tasks do you particularly enjoy?
No two days are the same. I organise inpatient billing and manage a team of 13 employees, which is divided into three smaller teams that work independently. Monitoring and controlling inpatient billing ensures that revenue is secured. I am currently working on a project to establish quarterly financial statements and reporting. I coordinate the interfaces and am in frequent contact with cost bearers. I appreciate the variety of the work, the constant learning and the results that come from it.

What are your career goals for the future?
I want to successfully lead and develop my team and obtain an MBA in the near future.

How would you complete the following sentence?
HNU... "was my first step into the professional world and is a great university!"
