Hands-on accounting and taxation: Excursion to the auditing firm PwC

21.05.2025, Study:

An excursion by the sixth semester of the Business Studies in Healthcare Management course at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) showed that accounting and taxation do not have to be dry subjects. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Manja Rausendorf-Marzina, the students visited the renowned auditing firm PwC in Munich.

The students were welcomed at the location by Anita Botzenhardt, Partner in the Healthcare Services division. She introduced them to the diverse fields of activity at PwC as well as career paths and entry opportunities for graduates. The insight into the varied everyday working life, which is characterized by diverse clients, interdisciplinary teams and constantly new challenges, was particularly impressive.

Experience practice, make contacts

The students were then able to put their knowledge to the test in practical case studies. In small groups, accompanied by experienced auditors and audit assistants, they analyzed real-life scenarios and presented their findings. It became clear how closely theory and practice are linked - and how exciting accounting and taxation can actually be.

An informal get-together rounded off the day. Employees from various departments were available for personal discussions and provided insights into their day-to-day work. Initial contacts were made - an important step for starting a career later on.
