The aim of the event was to sensitise participants to the potential of artificial intelligence (AI), augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) and 3D technology in the classroom and to show them ways to pass on their enthusiasm for these technologies to their students. Specific application examples - from AI-generated learning aids and virtual excursions to 3D-printed workpieces - were used to illustrate how theoretical buzzwords can be turned into tangible learning experiences.
Low-threshold access enables digital change
Children and young people should learn early on how to use AI responsibly, how to move safely in virtual learning environments and how to realise creative ideas with digital tools. A particular focus was therefore on the question of how teachers can encourage curiosity and enjoyment of the new technologies through practical, low-threshold formats. Even small impulses such as an AR/VR learning station, an AI-supported teaching unit or a 3D workshop can actively shape the digital transformation in schools.
Opportunities and challenges in everyday school life
In addition to the educational added value and other opportunities that arise in this area, for example through funding programmes such as the DigitalPakt or cooperation with universities and EdTech companies, challenges such as infrastructural requirements, hardware costs and the need for further training for teachers were also discussed.
TTZ Leipheim as a bridge builder and mediator of enthusiasm for technology
TTZ Leipheim builds bridges between universities, companies and schools in the region. It supports the transfer of knowledge through workshops, pilot projects, interactive school lessons and loan systems. "It is a matter close to our hearts to connect the schools in the district even more closely with the university and the TTZ. With formats like this, we want to introduce children and young people of all ages to the technologies that will be taken for granted in industry, trade and administration in the future," says Prof Dr Jürgen Grinninger. HNU President Prof. Dr Uta M. Feser emphasises: "The university benefits from the exchange with schools because we are shaping the educational pathways of the next generation together. Only by awakening enthusiasm for technology at an early age can we ensure the long-term competitiveness of our region."
