The Founder's Garage is already taking place for the fourth time this semester. Almost 30 students from Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU), Ulm University of Applied Sciences (THU), Ulm University and Biberach University of Applied Sciences (HBC), who are interested in founding a company, will be working in interdisciplinary teams over the coming weeks to develop their ideas into business models suitable for the company.
A new feature of this year's Founders' Garage is that it is being organized by the StartupSÜD joint project, which means that students from THU, HBC and the University can now also develop their business ideas alongside students from HNU.
13 coaches from the four joint universities support the participants in their projects.
In the Boot and Thrill Camp, the students not only came together in intradisciplinary teams over the last few weeks, but were also given the tools they will need for the coming weeks and months by the coaches and external guests.
For example, the founder of PineBerry, an HNU alumna, presented her young startup and showed how to properly pitch her product idea. In the subsequent discussion round, numerous questions were asked and answered.
Another novelty at the current Founder's Garage is "Real Prototyping". Here, students have the opportunity to create a prototype of their product not only virtually (as a mockup, video or landing page), but to tinker with it in real life.
This poses a particular challenge for the participants, as the team work at the fourth Gründergarage will also take place purely digitally and the teams will not be able to meet each other - or the coaches - in person.
The five teams now have until July 1, 2021 to flesh out their projects and draw up a business plan. Then the final pitches will take place.
