New virtual experience world professorship opened at HNU

10.07.2025, University News:

On 7 July, Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) presented the new digital platform "Erlebniswelt Professur". At a launch event in the HNU Innovation Space, Vice President Prof Dr Julia Kormann, Fabian Girschick from the InnoProf project team and Markus Herkersdorf, CEO of the TriCAT agency, presented the world of experience to internal and external guests. Lena Schuler and Hanna Reinhardt from TriCAT, who were present in the world of experience and digitally connected, guided visitors through the various rooms and offers of the world of experience. The digital offer makes the career path to a professorship and the HNU as an employer tangible.

The digital service was created as part of the third-party funded InnoPROF project funded by the federal-state programme "FH-Personal". It was developed in close cooperation with the TriCAT agency, which specialises in immersive learning and working environments.

Virtual rooms for a real connection

The Professorship Experience is more than just an information portal. It invites you to discover HNU as a potential workplace and development partner. "For many, the journey begins with the question: How do I become a professor? For us, it begins when someone comes to us and helps to shape our university - over many years," says Prof Dr Julia Kormann, Vice President of HNU and the idea behind the project. “That's why we want to show right from the start what we stand for as a university - not just in words, but in a form that can be experienced.”

Developed together: Cooperation with TriCAT

The world of experience was realised in close collaboration between the HNU and the Ulm-based agency TriCAT. The result: a three-dimensional walk-in space that addresses questions about academic careers - and at the same time conveys an immersive feeling for the university's culture and values.

Markus Herkersdorf, CEO of TriCAT, emphasises the importance of the collaboration: “At TriCAT, we see every day how virtual worlds, digital twins and AI agents are changing our world. As a project partner, we are particularly pleased that HNU is once again showing how to think and implement university development innovatively with the Professorship Experience.”

Showing perspectives, enabling identification

The virtual space is aimed at anyone interested in a professorship - whether they have a traditional university background or come from a practical background. In addition to key questions about qualifications and job profiles, the platform also provides insights into the university itself: its history on the occasion of its 30th anniversary, its three faculties, teaching and research specialisms as well as current topics.

"Our aim is to address new target groups and create a personalised approach - beyond the usual job advertisements," says Fabian Girschick, project employee at InnoPROF. "The world of experience offers an ideal introduction to this - for anyone who wants to find out whether HNU is the right place for their professional future."
