Focus on local practice partners
A key element of the Summer School was the hackathon, during which students worked alongside the start-ups JulBiFit, Venture Peak, 33 Blueprints Collective and BeMyBuddy on specific challenges in the fields of marketing and PR, for example. Working in interdisciplinary teams, they went through the entire design thinking process – from analysis and idea generation right through to the final pitch. Participants were able to apply their knowledge directly, develop creative solutions and strengthen their teamwork and problem-solving skills.
The winning team was “The Wellness HER-itage” with its ideas for the regional company JulBiFit, a health and fitness consultancy. The concept included, among other things, the development of an app and the refinement of the web and social media strategy.
International learning on the HNU campus
The Summer School brought together students from HNU with students from Hungary, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy and Slovakia. The international composition of the teams allowed for a variety of perspectives and encouraged exchange across cultural and disciplinary boundaries. A varied social programme complemented the academic content: a guided tour of Ulm, a guided tour of the Wilhelmsburg castle, and a day trip to Stuttgart offered the international guests insights into the region and strengthened the sense of community.
An established innovation initiative at HNU
Through its summer and winter schools, the IfE at HNU has created a programme that combines teaching, international cooperation and regional innovation needs. Each semester, students from different disciplines and universities work together on real-world challenges – thereby gaining the ability to take on responsibility and play an active role in transformation processes.
