Under the guidance of Prof. Dr Harald Gerlach, the students took on all the tasks required for a professional event. These included producing creative Reels for TikTok and Instagram, setting up the technical equipment for the gaming stations, and managing the community around the tournament. The team also masterfully overcame a logistical challenge: transporting and setting up the extensive equipment in the cinema lobby and in Theatres 10 and 11.
A particular highlight: one student developed a bespoke software tool for the tournament, which is publicly available on GitHub (opens in a new window)under the name CustoMatch – Tournament Maker.
A dedicated team of students
On the day of the event, more than ten students ensured that everything ran smoothly. They supervised the gaming stations, managed the results and were on hand to assist the participants. For just ten euros, participants gained access to the tournament, including snacks and drinks – an offer that was very well received.
Attractive prizes for the top three finishers provided extra motivation. The event was made possible through close collaboration with the Dietrich Theatre in Neu-Ulm and the support of Team Orange Gaming, who provided professional guidance for the project. This successful collaboration gives hope for further joint events in the future.
