As the central conference for researchers in the fields of occupational, organizational, and business psychology as well as engineering psychology in German-speaking countries, the AOWI offers a platform for presenting the latest scientific findings and discussing them with colleagues from academia and practice. This year's event was held under the motto “Changing working environments: Cooperation between humans and technology.”
From application to interview: The role of gender-sensitive language
Together with researchers from Ulm, Leipzig, and Mannheim, the HNU contributions highlighted the role of gender-sensitive language in the world of work. In two jointly designed studies, the two HNU researchers specifically investigated whether the use of different forms of gender-sensitive language influences the evaluation of applicants – both in the context of cover letters (Prof. Dr. Michaela Eßbach) and in the context of job interviews (Prof. Dr. Johannes Basch). Both studies were conducted with the support of business psychology students. Prof. Basch's project resulted in three theses by Marie-Luise Lubahn, Mona Ernst, and Josef Stadler, while Jeannette Graf was involved in Prof. Eßbach's project as a student assistant.
