Information session on the establishment of the Cyber Defence Alliance Swabia (CDAS)

13.07.2026, Press Release :

Cyberattacks are on the rise: Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) regards cyber security as a shared responsibility and, together with its Technology Transfer Centre (TTZ) in Günzburg, is launching the Cyber Defence Alliance Swabia (CDAS). This regional initiative brings together businesses, the public sector, operators of critical infrastructure (KRITIS), research and education organisations to pool expertise, exchange information more quickly and strengthen the region’s digital resilience in the long term. At an initial information event on Thursday, 23 July 2026, from 5 pm to 8 pm, the organisers will present the new alliance’s objectives, key priorities and opportunities for participation. The event will take place on the HNU campus and online via Zoom.

Rising demands, increasingly complex threat landscapes and limited human and financial resources present major challenges for companies, local authorities, public bodies and operators of critical infrastructure. Against this backdrop, the CDAS focuses on regional cooperation, knowledge transfer and the ability to act collectively.

“Digital resilience is not achieved through compliance alone, but above all through exchange, a shared understanding of the situation, practical preparation and trust-based cooperation,” emphasises Prof. Dr Aykan Inan, Professor of Cyber Security and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at HNU.

At the information event, participants will gain insights into planned areas of action such as early warning systems, threat intelligence, human layer security, artificial intelligence, research and training, as well as HNU’s new cyber security degree programme. In addition to presenting the concept, the event will provide opportunities for discussion, networking and active involvement in shaping the alliance.

The event is aimed at companies and SMEs, operators of critical infrastructure, local authorities, government bodies, associations and chambers of commerce, as well as universities and research institutions.
