Experience instead of just understanding
In a challenging outdoor setting - from a forest climbing garden to slacklines and steep rock faces - the students were able to directly experience key aspects of successful collaboration. Among other things, they learnt how a lack of leadership or power struggles can paralyse a team,
how silent voices can be heard in groups and how concentration and breathing exercises can help to overcome personal boundaries.
The tasks ranged from simulated bomb defusing and overcoming a "live" obstacle to complex balancing acts - always with the aim of strengthening confidence in themselves and others.
Reflection and realisation
After each exercise, the teams reflected together on what had worked well and where there was room for improvement. These “lessons learned” were incorporated directly into the next challenge - a dynamic learning process that ideally combined theory and practice.
In addition to the professional insights, the focus was also on getting to know each other personally. Despite - or perhaps because of - the intensive experiences, the atmosphere was characterized by mutual respect, lots of laughter and genuine enthusiasm.
Prof. Dr. Oliver Kunze summed up: “TeamHELLO 2025 has shown: If you want to understand teamwork, you have to experience it. And that's exactly what we did.”
