Business Criminology (BA)

Whether money laundering, embezzlement, balance sheet fraud or investment fraud - this degree programme prepares you comprehensively for the challenges of white-collar crime. The degree programme therefore offers a combination of classic business administration and specialised criminology. You will immerse yourself in this world: In addition to familiarising yourself with the methods and profiles of white-collar criminals, you will acquire in-depth knowledge of investigative techniques - experienced police officers and lawyers will pass on their specialist knowledge to you. You will also study fundamental topics such as accounting, finance and business law.

Structure of the programme
The degree programme in Business Criminology at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences is divided into two sections: the foundation course (1st to 3rd semester) and the main course (4th to 7th semester).
Basic studies (1st to 3rd semester)
The foundation course provides you with the basic knowledge you need to understand white-collar crime. This includes an introduction to business fundamentals and initial insights into the mechanisms and processes of white-collar crime.
Main studies (4th to 7th semester)
In the main study programme, you will deepen your knowledge in various specialised areas:
- Legal topics: Criminal law
- Methodological topics: White-collar offences I and II
- Psychological and forensic topics: Economic forensics I to III
Parallel to this, you can choose from four business management specialisations:
- Annual financial statements
- Taxes
- Corporate Finance
- Treasury
You must choose two of these specialisations in order to receive a comprehensive business education.

Our lecturers are made up of a diverse group of experts. These include professors from Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences, experienced police officers, lawyers and specialists from renowned management consultancies and auditing firms.

The Business Criminology degree programme opens up a wide range of career opportunities for you, as it teaches both business management and criminological knowledge.
Business administration area
With a focus on accounting and finance, you will have numerous entry opportunities in these areas. You can work in various positions within companies that require in-depth knowledge of business administration.
Business criminology area
The forensic part of the degree programme prepares you for a career in the forensics departments of large auditing companies. There are also opportunities in specialised management consultancies and authorities that deal with the investigation and prevention of white-collar crime, as well as in the compliance departments of companies.
Practice and stays abroad
The 6th semester is a compulsory internship semester in which you can gain valuable work experience and make initial contacts for your career entry.
Stays abroad are not compulsory, but are recommended and actively supported by the HNU. You have the opportunity to complete a semester abroad, do an internship abroad or write your Bachelor's thesis in cooperation with a foreign company. For your semester abroad, you can draw on HNU's extensive network of around 80 partner universities abroad.
Contribution and fees

Admission requirements
- At least an entrance qualification for higher education in universities of applied sciences in Bavaria
- For international applicants: German language skills on level C1
- The programme is approval-free
