Kick-off for SCEFAB Project: International Collaboration for Circular Economy Education in Africa

14.11.2024, Transfer:

At the beginning of November, the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU), together with its long-standing partners Université Gaston Berger (UGB) in Senegal and Bahir Dar University (BDU) in Ethiopia, officially launched the new cooperation project “Strengthening Circular Economy for Agribusiness (SCEFAB)”.

The project focuses on developing interdisciplinary and practice-based teaching modules for African students, aimed at equipping future professionals in agribusiness with the knowledge and tools to implement circular economy principles. The goal is to bridge academic theory with real-world application across university faculties and national borders.

The kick-off workshop, hosted in Ethiopia, brought together academic teams from all three institutions. It provided a valuable platform to align objectives, share institutional perspectives, and initiate the joint design of learning formats. Alongside the academic program, participants had the opportunity to gain insight into Ethiopian culture through a rich and engaging social program.

SCEFAB is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the BMZ and is part of HNU’s broader strategy to strengthen applied international cooperation in higher education through the HNU Afrika Institute.
