In its laudatory speech, the jury praised the project: "FLOAT is not just an ordinary game, but an invitation to an experience. The intuitive controls and the bright, detailed world make the project unique. The real magic lies in the added value: every movement contributes to a more inclusive future. FLOAT combines gaming and empathy in a moving way and shows what is worth fighting for."
Great importance for the team
"The award means a lot to us," says the team. "We are delighted to have won the main prize – it is confirmation that our idea of combining gaming with research and social benefits is the right one."
FLOAT – Playing for a better future
FLOAT is a mixed reality game that combines gaming and research in a unique way. Players move around in a bright, lovingly designed VR world, guiding little "Pookies" across floating islands. Controls are intuitive, using hand tracking – no controllers required. During the game, movement data is recorded and used to develop smart prosthetics. This means that every gesture makes a valuable contribution to a more inclusive future.
