Future Flight Experience: HNU students develop ideas for the future of flying

13.04.2026, Study:

Practical project with Diehl Aviation: Students from the Business Administration and Business Psychology programmes at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) visited Diehl Aviation’s Laupheim site alongside Prof. Dr Julia Künkele to launch their practical project focusing on International Management and Leadership. The aim: to develop innovative approaches to shaping the flight experience of the future. The excursion marked the start of an intensive project phase in which the students can apply and deepen the theoretical knowledge they have acquired in a real-world business context.

At the start of the field trip, the students gained a comprehensive insight into the business areas and product portfolio of the internationally active aerospace supplier. It became clear just how crucial a role innovative cabin solutions and system components play in the future of aviation.

Project launch: Passenger-Centric Air Travel 2040 and beyond

Natalie Streckert and Cindy Petrasch from the Marketing and Market Intelligence department then presented the project questions that the students will be working on throughout the 2026 summer semester. The tasks are embedded within the overarching theme “Passenger-Centric Air Travel 2040 and beyond”, which focuses on consistently aligning future flight experiences with passengers’ needs. Working in groups, the students will tackle practical questions that take into account both technological developments and market and customer perspectives.
