HNU contributed several of its own presentations, an interactive stand in the accompanying exhibition, and experts to the programme of workshops and lectures.
Interactive university teaching you can experience for yourself: the game ‘FLOAT’
Things took a playful turn at the HNU stand: Kevin Bruno and Sebastian Dreschmann, students on the Game Production and Management course, joined other students in presenting FLOAT, a game they had developed themselves (as we reported). Visitors were able to try out the game for themselves at two stations and chat with the development team. The project is a prime example of how practically oriented and creative students at HNU are – from the initial idea right through to a playable prototype.
Insights from programme development: The future of higher education
The lecture “Bridging the Future: Flexible, connected, action-oriented – a new understanding of higher education” by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Grinninger, Professor of Operations Management, Supply Chain Management and Project Management at HNU, Prof. Dr Dirk Jacob, Vice-President for Teaching and Continuing Education at Kempten University of Applied Sciences, and Katharina Bucher, a member of staff at the Donau-Ries University Centre of the THA, addressed the question of how degree programmes must be designed to prepare students for an increasingly complex world of work. The focus was on the concept of the Systems Engineering (B.Eng.) degree programme, which emphasises flexible learning pathways, networked working and the promotion of genuine practical competence – key building blocks of modern higher education.
Focus on educational innovation: Learning with PERMA.teach
The workshop ‘Innovation-friendly teaching methods: Teaching and learning with PERMA.teach’, led by Prof. Stephanie Reiner from HNU, demonstrated how to design a learning environment that fosters creativity, engagement and self-efficacy. Using the PERMA.teach model, she explained how teachers can create conditions that encourage innovation. Participants tried out practical exercises, reflected on their own teaching practice and developed concrete ideas for implementation in their own teaching context.
Mission Statement on Teaching and Learning: Continuous Improvement as a Principle
The Bavarian Day of Good Teaching demonstrated once again just how valuable cross-institutional exchange is for the further development of study programmes and teaching. For HNU, this dialogue is a central part of its identity: continuous improvement is firmly embedded in HNU’s Teaching and Learning Mission Statement.
