Representative against anti-Semitism

Anti-Semitism is not tolerated at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences: The Anti-Semitism Officer at HNU is committed to resolutely combating anti-Semitism and creating a safe environment for Jewish and Israeli students and staff.

No tolerance for anti-Semitism

The increasing hatred against Jewish people that is taking place throughout Germany deeply shocks us and fills us all with deep concern and worry. At Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences, we are resolutely committed to protecting our students and employees from discrimination and violence, regardless of their origin or religious affiliation.

Universities places of diversity and tolerance

Our university is a place of diversity and tolerance and we want to keep it that way. Therefore, all forms of anti-Semitism and racism have no place at HNU. In order to ensure that Jewish and Israeli students and employees can continue to feel safe, the joint efforts of all university members are required.

Five-point action plan

Like all 33 Bavarian universities, Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences therefore supports the five-point action plan against anti-Semitism presented by Bavaria's Science Minister Markus Blume:

  1. Comprehensive awareness-raising: Regular dialogue platform with Jewish students and lecturers
  2. Clear responsibilities and fixed contacts: Anti-Semitism officers at all 33 state universities in Bavaria
  3. Increased education and prevention: expansion of teaching and research on anti-Semitism at Bavarian universities
  4. Consistent university regulatory law: zero tolerance for anti-Semitic incidents, de-registration as a last resort
  5. Powerful network: bulwark of universities, police, judiciary and politics

A detailed press release on this action plan can be found on the website of the Bavarian State Government.

Representative against anti-Semitism at HNU

The Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences followed up on the second point of the 5-point action plan immediately after the action plan was presented and appointed Fabian Girschick, who is also the HNU's Diversity and Equal Opportunities Officer, as a representative against anti-Semitism. His aim is to fulfil the other points together with the staff of the HNU and the other Bavarian universities in the near future. He is available to all members of the university for a personal discussion at any time.
